About

I'm Filipe Estacio, a software engineer at Aircall by day and CTO and co-founder of a startup in the UK utilities sector by night.

My path to software was unconventional. I started as a civil engineer managing London's water networks (including during the 2012 Olympics) before the pull of building things with code became impossible to ignore. I've since worked across the stack at startups and scale-ups, from billing systems and VoIP platforms to serverless AWS architectures.

The blog documents the startup side: building a product from scratch on a near-zero budget, making pragmatic engineering decisions when every hour and every penny counts. The stories are real, messy middles, wrong turns and all.

Based in Portugal. Originally from the UK water industry. Powered by TypeScript, AWS, and stubbornness.
